LEC under-counter catering fridges and freezers, these special catering models are designed specifically for the catering market and available in a white or stainless steel finish to suit the surroundings. They are ideal for workplace self-catering facilities, as well as pub kitchens, small catering operations and back bar storage.

Sturdily built with hygienic, easily cleaned and impact-resistant white plastic interior walls, the fridges and freezers have reversible doors with a continuous handle for ease of opening. The 153 litre capacity under-counter fridges and 116 litre freezers operate efficiently in ambient temperatures of up to 32 degrees C. Both use environmentally friendly CFC, HFC-free cyclopentane foam insulation and R600a (HC) refrigerant.

The refrigerators have forced air cooling to ensure even temperature distribution of between +1 to +5 degrees C throughout the cabinet. The freezers operate between -18 to -25 degrees C and have four wire drawers for easy organisation of frozen products.

A clear digital temperature display ensures food is stored at the correct temperature and there is a temperature alarm in case of severe temperature rises, for example, if the door is left open too long or the power fails.

For convenience in supplying a variety of menu items quickly, and to order, many kitchens use a blast chiller to chill hot food they prepare in bulk cooking sessions. Until recently blast chillers and freezers have been the preserve of larger catering establishments as they have tended to be big and expensive items of equipment. But now, with the introduction of the compact Ital Lampo blast chiller, this technology is within reach of smaller establishments both in terms of cost and space.

The Ital Lampo, available from Carlton Sales, is a compact blast chiller and freezer combined that offers all the power of the larger models - rapidly chilling food to +3 degrees C in 90 minutes and shock freezing to -18 degrees C in 240 minutes - without compromising the freshness and taste. With a storage capacity of 29 litre and measuring just 620 x 600  x 400mm, the Lampo can hold 3 x 2/3 gastronorm pans but is small enough to fit on, or under, a countertop, tucking in alongside existing equipment.

Simple controls and robust, stainless steel construction ensure the Lampo will withstand the demanding environment of a busy commercial kitchen with a full one-year parts and labour warranty.

Foster Refrigerator recently presented Ashwicken First School with one of their award winning Eco Pro Refrigerators. Foster felt that the local school was deserving of such a donation due to their continual demonstration of exceptional green initiatives.

Such green initiatives have included the school’s garden area where the pupils plan to grow and sell produce, recycling schemes and a school travel plan (involving the encouragement of car sharing and walking along safe routes to school), and the newly built eco-friendly solar-panelled classroom. As verification of their green credentials, Ashwicken has been granted permission to fly the coveted ‘Green Flag’ above their school, meaning that they are recognised as being part of the International Eco-School Project.

The School will use the refrigerator on a daily basis to store the “5-a-day” fruit and ingredients for their Healthy Cookery Club. The product also has enough space to store children’s packed lunches in order to keep them chilled in the hot weather. Upon receipt of the product donation, Sue Collison Headteacher of Ashwicken First School, said, “We are very grateful to receive such a brilliant fridge which is energy efficient and fits in with our school’s eco commitment to actively promote reductions, re-usage and recycling.”

As an option, castors are also available to create the ideal satellite serving point.

You may say that to give a customer too much choice can be confusing, however, we would argue that situations can be unique to the customer. Why should they have to accept the take it or leave option or indeed purchase a single and a triple door cabinet that although may be from the same source have only the vehicle that delivered them in common. In addition to the Maxiglass we have Eco-Line, a range of cabinets that offer larger capacity and the option to cool with a remote condenser taking any heat or perceived noise made by the bottle cooler away from the bar area.
