Classeq’s competitively priced ice machines now available in under-counter models

Classeq has introduced a range of competitively priced ice makers covering small under-counter models and larger high volume models. The Classeq Ice machines are designed to look equally good under the bar or behind it and they produce extremely long-lasting, octagonal or square (depending on the size of the machine) crystal-clear cubes of ice - perfect for drinks and ice buckets.

The Classeq Ice range is exceptionally easy to use and has been built to deliver ice cheaply, quickly and with the highest possible standards of hygiene. A simple flick-switch starts the special cleaning programme whenever it’s needed – no bother.

The machines are perfect for under-counter siting as they are front venting and all service access is to the front. With a foam-insulated cabinet they can operate in even the hottest of nightclubs at temperatures of up to 43 degrees C.

The smallest (630mm high) Ice18 model makes 18kg of ice in 24 hours while the Ice50, with a height of 800mm makes 50kg. There are also larger models in the Ice range with daily outputs from 65kg to 313kg.

All machines are backed by Classeq’s comprehensive one-year warranty for full peace of mind after purchase.

Buying British makes more sense than ever claims Lincat

Lincat Ltd, the UK’s leading manufacturer of commercial catering equipment, claims that there has never been a better time to buy British. This is due, Lincat believes, to a number of different factors.

“To start with the weak pound is making imported equipment much more expensive to buy”, said Nick McDonald, Marketing Director of Lincat Ltd. “However it’s certainly not just an issue of cost. British designed and manufactured equipment is ideal for British applications.”

    He continued…

“For example large British ovens, with side opening doors, are perfect for the traditional roast. European manufacturers in contrast tend to stick to shallow ovens with drop down doors. Side opening doors make it easy to reach into our large, deep ovens, maintaining a safe, straight-backed posture, to remove heavy, hot dishes. They also avoid the serious tripping hazard of a drop down door left open.

In addition British kitchens are often limited in terms of size, with the result that a British built 6-burner range, which is typically 900mm wide fits perfectly, whereas an imported model, which is typically larger, does not. Lincat’s comprehensive Opus 700 heavy duty range of prime cooking equipment has for example, undergone rigorous product trials, and been selected by national pub chains including Punch and Spirit for use throughout their estates.”

Lincat has also noticed that many organisations and, larger ones in particular, are keen to buy British out of concern for the environment. Policies to reduce the carbon footprint of larger organisations are beginning to reach the kitchen. Buying British and thereby reducing ‘equipment’ miles is becoming more important.

Last but by no means least, Lincat believes that operators are choosing British made equipment thanks to the excellent sales, spare parts and after sales service which can be provided by a manufacturer which is based here in the UK.

Overall there are more than 450 products in the Lincat range including: fryers, griddles, grills, ovens and combi steamers as well as beverage equipment, hot cupboards, trolleys and food display merchandisers, almost all of which are manufactured at the company’s factory in Lincoln. Excellent customer service is provided through Lincat’s extensive national and international dealer network.

Lincat Ltd is part of the Lincat Group of companies. Sister companies IMC Ltd and Britannia Kitchen Ventilation Ltd operate in the commercial catering equipment sector. Lincat Group company Mercury Appliances Ltd designs and manufactures domestic cooking appliances.

Miele is Germany’s ‘Best Product Brand’

The highly coveted ‘Best Brands’ have been awarded for 2009 and Miele are delighted to have been awarded first place in the ‘Best Product Brand’ category. The ‘Best Brand’ awards are based on a comprehensive market survey performed by GfK Market Research. This poll is designed to gauge brand strength as well as the attractiveness of the brand and to assess the most successful brands with respect to their ability to meet future challenges.
In order to determine the ‘Best Product Brand’, GfK assessed the share of market of just under 200 of the best-known companies from 30 sectors covering fast-moving consumer goods and consumer durables. This involved collating information on success indicators such as market share, price premium and customer loyalty.

Telephone interviews were also held with consumers who were questioned on the attractiveness of brands which had previously been identified as the most successful. The aspects assessed were brand confidence, brand identification, the willingness to pay a premium for a branded product and quality. The best product brand was selected by bringing together a brand’s success in terms of generating revenue with softer assets as reflected in a brand’s appeal to consumers.

Co-proprietor and Managing Director of Miele & Cie, Dr Reinhard Zinkann said “‘we are extremely happy and pleased with such an illustrious prize. We view this commendation as confirmation of the Forever Better philosophy which our company has put into practice through generations” he continues, “The ‘Best Brand’ award endorses our claim to quality and our continual pursuit of technical perfection”.

    LEC Medical Ice Machines

Lec Medical has agreed a deal with Hoshizaki UK, one of world’s leading manufacturers of ice makers, to supply a comprehensive range of ice dispensers and flake/nugget ice machines, specifically designed for medical and laboratory use.

According to Matt Newsome, Marketing Manager at GDPA, the company behind the Lec Medical brand, the expanding medical refrigeration supplier is delighted to be working with such a renowned manufacturer as Hoshizaki. “This exclusive agreement means that we can combine Hoshizaki’s ice-making expertise with our own understanding of the requirements of our medical customers to produce equipment which brings real user benefits every day.”

The ice dispensers are ideal for any situation where a number of people need access to an ongoing ice/water supply, particularly for drinks. As well as being compact and energy efficient the dispensers use a very hygienic method of producing, storing and dispensing ice, perfect for any medical environment. The ice moves directly to the storage hoppers as soon as it is produced so it has no contact with light or air until it is dispensed.

There are three ice maker models in the range, two of which have the facility to select, ice cubes, ice cubes and water or water. The counter-top DCM60FE water and ice maker produces 60 kg of ice in 24 hours, and stores up to 1.9 kg. The DCM120FE has the same compact size and features, but produces ice more than twice as fast for busier locations, at 125 kg in 24 hours, storing up to 4 kg at one time. The floor-standing DIM30AE is for ice cubes only, produces 32 kg of ice in 24 hours and has a much larger storage bin capacity at 15 kg.

There are six flake/nugget ice machines for a wide variety of cooling purposes. The ice is compressed during production to give longer lasting cooling for the transportation and cooling of blood and organs. Flake ice is also ideal for packing around limbs.

The flake/nugget ice machines come in two different dimensions with varying production and storage capacities, with the FM80EE producing 85kg of ice in 24 hours, and storing 26kg, up to the larger FM120EE50 which produces 125 kg of ice in 24 hours and storing 50 kg at one time.
